Courtenay Holden

Deeply intrigued by and patiently studious of nature’s elements, Courtenay creates canvases that invite the viewer to realise their own interpretations of the land, sky and water.

Living on the Côte d’Azur, she developed her ‘Tear’ series and ‘Horizons’. Both series differ greatly, but her fundamental elements of balance, light, texture and contrast are prevalent. Courtenay prefers not to name her art. Art is subjective by definition, and she wishes that it remain pure.

Having absorbed her surroundings in the south of France for a year, Courtenay now lives in Vancouver and is starting a body of work inspired by the vast expanses of luminous colour, and ancient emotions of Canada.
